According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), if one billion people out of the global population of eight billion adopt environment-friendly behaviours in their daily lives, global carbon emissions could drop by approximately 20 per cent.
About the initiative Who are the heroes?

Young Earth Heroes

Young Earth Heroes programme pioneers a unique ‘awareness to action’ initiative tailored for students from privileged backgrounds. In this segment, the per capita consumption tends to be higher, thus contributing to a significant environmental footprint. This innovative project aims to instill a deep understanding of environmental challenges, foster collective action, and empower students, their parents and teachers, to measure and reduce their carbon footprint, water usage, and waste generation.

The movement aims to Join the movement

Measure and reduce

Each participant will assess their personal environmental impact by measuring their carbon footprint, water usage, and waste generation. Subsequently, they will set targets for reduction and receive scientific guidance on achieving these goals.

Mitigate and conserve

Participants will learn about strategies for mitigating environmental degradation and conserving natural resources, including the importance of biodiversity preservation and sustainable land management practices. A united community of mindful individuals.

Initiate collective action

Through collaborative efforts, students will grasp the power of collective action in effecting meaningful change, transcending individual efforts.

Empower

Participants will gain insights into the pressing environmental issues confronting our planet and recognize the pivotal role they can play in addressing them.

Why should we care, and what can we do about the environment

The backstory From coffee to a movement

There’s a short story of this movement.  It began as an exploration of sustainable consumption, a thread that wove together individuals from all walks of life—professionals including a few CEOs and decision-makers at large corporate houses and non profits as well as educators, as also a few students—each with their own unique perspective and contribution.

Over an hour-long session at Coffee for Cause edition 6 (see video) blossomed into a vibrant network of passionate individuals turned into a large community and their meetups became a melting pot of ideas, fostering connections that transcend individual efforts. This video has glimpses of one such meetup where representatives of ‘conscious communities’ comprising  corporates, non-profits, universities, schools as well as leads from United Nations Environment Programme participated.

Beginning of Young Earth Heroes YEH

Interestingly, as educational institutions became incubators for this dialogue, where not just students, the concept of “Young Earth Heroes” emerged—a platform designed to empower the younger generation to lead the charge for sustainability. It is not a campaign, rally or a symbolic initiative, but a subtle action-oriented movement where we all acknowledge ourselves as a part of a larger community that does their bit, urges others to do theirs, and meet once in a while to acknowledge the power of collective action, tell each other that we are not alone, thousands of us are together in it.

Be a part of the community, your story matters!

So, here’s the call to everyone who cares for the Earth, no matter how small your concern may be. Let’s unite in this movement. Share your stories, engage in conversations, and let’s take collective action. Because when we come together, our voices grow louder, our actions more impactful, and our dreams for a sustainable world more attainable.

Together, we can rewrite the narrative of sustainability, transforming isolated efforts into a powerful wave of change.

The journey has just begun, and every story shared makes a difference. Let’s make it count!

We Complement LiFE

Mission Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) is an India-led global mass movement to nudge individual and community action to protect and preserve the environment. Mission LiFE recognises that the first step towards adopting a ‘lifestyle for the environment’ is embracing sustainable consumption and being a conscious consumer. The mission emphasises the importance of conserving our precious natural resources and living in harmony with nature, and puts the focus on individual actions and steps that can help achieve this.
